Congratulations to Camberwell College of Arts MA Conservation graduate Samantha Cawson, who has been awarded a £1,500 Queen Elizabeth Scholarship to undertake an internship at the Teyler’s Museum in the Netherlands.  Samantha was presented with her certificate on 3rd June 2014 by Alec McQuinn, President of the Royal Warrant Holders Association.

The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) was endowed by the Royal Warrant Holders Association to advance education in modern and traditional crafts and trades in the UK.  Scholarships of up to £18,000 are open to men and women of all ages and are awarded twice a year.  Fifteen awards were made this spring and an additional five artisans have been appointed QEST Apprentices.

Winning a QEST Scholarship will enable Samantha to take up an internship at the Teylers Museum in the Netherlands under the supervision of Robien van Gulik, the Head of Conservation.  The placement will provide Samantha with essential experience of working with a variety of objects and on a major exhibition, as well as building crucial links with other institutions abroad within the heritage sector.

QEST, the charitable arm of the Royal Warrant Holders Association, was established in 1990 with money contributed by its members, to mark the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Association.  The Trustees look for well thought out projects, which will contribute to the pool of talent in the UK and reflect the excellence of British craftsmanship as symbolised by the Royal Warrant of Appointment.
